Black History Month is an annual celebration that honors the history, achievements, and central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Black History month is celebrated every February

Black History Month started as “Negro History Week” in February 1926, created by historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History.

President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976, building on decades of grassroots expansion after historian Carter G. Woodson first created Negro History Week in 1926.

It expanded into a full month-long celebration in 1970 at Kent State University and was officially recognized by the U.S. government in 1976

He did not change it, he officially recognized what was already happening.

No president created Black history month. President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976. However, the concept was created and decades earlier by historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson.
